Castello di Valdengo

Castello di Valdengo is a medieval building complex. Its chapel is dedicated to Saints Eusebius, Anthony and Caterina. Castello di Valdengo is home to one of only two Bertesche in the castles of the Biellese. At the same time, the castle is currently used for residential purposes and is not open to visitors. The medieval building complex, its religious dedication and the Bertesche therefore stand alongside its current residential use.

The Chiesa di San Biagio displays the architectural form resulting from its 17th-century renovation. The Chiesa di San Biagio contains a valuable 16th-century panel attributed to the school of Bernardino Lanino. The Chiesa di Sant’Andrea was mentioned as early as 1184 in a papal bull as a Benedictine cell and was rebuilt in the 17th century. The two churches thus bring together several historical layers: a 17th-century renovation, a 16th-century panel with its attribution, and a mention dating back to 1184.

The historic centre of Valdengo

The historic centre of Valdengo includes houses with elaborate frescoes. The historic centre also contains the 17th-century parish church of San Michele. Anyone interested in townscapes and sacred architecture can view these two elements as different aspects of the historic centre.

Cultural destinations in the surrounding area

The Castello di Zumaglia castle is located in the immediate vicinity of Bellaria. The surrounding area of Bellaria also includes the Fondazione FILA Museum, the Palazzo Gromo Losa di Prarolo palace and the Palazzo Ferrero palace. The different types of buildings broaden the cultural scope of the stay from a castle to a museum and two palaces.
