Brondello is the highest-altitude village in the small Valle Bronda. Circular trails, cycling routes, historic buildings, and events in July and November give your trip to Italy a range of different focal points.

History and Architectural Heritage

The Torre di Brondello is the remains of a medieval fortification, documented as early as the 12th century. Its circular stone structure provided a 360-degree view over Valle Bronda.

The Torre del Castello di Brondello became a clock tower in 1858 following a partial restoration. Among other things, the roof was renewed and a clock was installed during this restoration.

The Parrocchiale dell' Assunta is also part of the village's historic character. The church is generally attributed to the 15th century; its façade features late-medieval frescoes from the late 15th century. They depict Saint Christopher, Saint Anthony, and Saint George freeing the princess from the dragon.

The Romanesque stone bridge of Brondello dates from the 14th century and adds another distinct architectural monument to the village's history.

Circular Trails and Cycling

The Valle Bronda Trekking route is also suitable as a mountain-bike circuit, as it includes numerous gravel roads and mule tracks. This means you will find a basis here both for tours on foot and for mountain-bike excursions.

The Anello Circuito Verde di Brondello circular route begins in Brondello near the Cappella dei Santi Rocco e Sebastiano at an altitude of approximately 400 metres above sea level.

The marked mountain-bike routes of varying lengths and difficulty levels are compiled in the publication “MTB Brondello – Valle Bronda e Isasca”. The different route profiles help you organize a cycling tour according to your preferred length and level of difficulty, without treating all excursions alike.

At the Colletta di Brondello, at an altitude of 887 metres, there is a chrono test point for cycling. The associated route is 4.3 kilometres long and has an elevation gain of 372 metres.

Connections and Regional Orientation

The SP 180 leads from Brondello over the Colletto di Isasca and then descends to Isasca, the first village in Valle Varaita. The road therefore provides a clear connection between Brondello, the mountain pass, and Isasca.

Plums and Chestnuts in the Event Calendar

The Sagra della Brigna is an event held in July that highlights the plum cultivated on the slopes of Valle Bronda for centuries. The fruit is therefore one of the regional themes you can take into account when planning a trip around Brondello.

The Sagra del Mundaijè is an event held in November to promote the chestnut. Together with the July event, it shows that local festival culture embraces different products and seasons.
