Treiso between Baroque Art and Wine Country

Sacred Art and Historic Places

The parish church of Maria Vergine Assunta is a Baroque church consecrated in 1765. Inside, it houses a painting by Pietro Paolo Operti from 1766. The façade features statues of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Saint Anne and Saint Joachim, created by the sculptor Unia in 1773. The church of S. Bernardino da Siena was also the seat of the Congregation of the Battuti Bianchi. It was extensively restored and converted into a cultural centre with a large hall for events, exhibitions and performances. The chapel of S. Stefano is located in the hamlet of S. Stefanetto; the chapel of S. Alessandro is in the hamlet of the same name.

The Rocche dei Sette Fratelli

The Rocche dei Sette Fratelli are a geomorphological gorge formed over the centuries by water erosion in friable marl slopes. Its interior is almost devoid of vegetation; only shrubs of broom, juniper and Scots pine grow there. The Rocche can be reached on foot from the centre of Treiso in just a few minutes.

Hiking Trails with Different Profiles

Four hiking trails run through the municipal area of Treiso. The regional trail ECNC 314.000 connects Treiso with Neive and Neviglie. Sentiero 1 – Rocche dei 7 fratelli–Cappelletto is 8.7 km long and leads to an equipped viewpoint on the Strada Romantica delle Langhe e del Roero. Sentiero 2 – Rizzi–Ausario–Treiso is 6 km long and includes a very scenic unpaved section. The different lengths help you plan your day if you prefer a shorter route or the longer path to the viewpoint.

Wine and the Local Context

Treiso is associated with 20 additional geographical designations covering almost its entire territory. Il Bricco is a family-run winery with five hectares of vineyards in Treiso, in the Colline del Barbaresco. It offers wine tastings, wine sales and tours, as well as tasting seminars with a professional sommelier in Italian, English or German. When it was introduced, the Barbaresco denomination covered the entire area of Treiso, as well as Barbaresco, Neive and the small hamlet of San Rocco Seno D’Elvio in Alba.

Late-Summer Events

The traditional Festa Vendemmiale of Treiso takes place in late summer. It offers events, food and entertainment for all age groups.
