Bellinzago Novarese combines historic churches, old roads and a route to the Parco Naturale della Valle del Ticino. The town thus brings together sacred architectural history, a historically shaped town centre and a nature-oriented side, without requiring you to limit yourself to just one type of travel experience.

Historic Centre and Sacred History

In the historic centre, you can follow the circular layout of the original Castrum along the old streets and see courtyards preserved over the centuries.

The Badia di Dulzago was founded in the 12th century by canons following the Augustinian rule. Around the Badia di Dulzago, the landscape forms the transition from the so-called upper plain through the spring-water zone to the lower plain.

The Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Clemente is the third church on an old sacred site documented in the Consignationes of 1347; it was rebuilt repeatedly. It was partly redesigned according to a plan by Alessandro Antonelli. Work began on 12 or 13 April 1837.

The Chiesa Madonna di Loreto e Sant'Anna was rebuilt by the municipality of Bellinzago in 1618; Rev. Gaudenzio Bovio is associated with its foundation. The altarpiece is an oil painting on canvas by Bartolomeo Vandoni and depicts the Madonna di Loreto, Sant'Anna, Santa Domenica and don Gaudenzio Bovio.

Nature and Paths along the Ticino

The nature-oriented side includes the Oasi WWF “Baraggia di Bellinzago”, which has the status of a Site of Community Importance.

The Bellinzago–Parco del Ticino route leads from Bellinzago into the Parco Naturale della Valle del Ticino and includes woodland paths as well as walks along the river. This allows the historic town and church spaces on the one hand, and the landscape and paths along the Ticino on the other, to be considered as different focal points of your trip.

Buildings and Destinations in the Surrounding Area

The area around Bellinzago Novarese is home to Castello Sforzesco, a castle, as well as three palaces: Villa Bellini, Palazzo Bellini and Palazzo Natta.

Further afield in the region are the Giardini Consiglio d'europa, a garden, Spiaggia dei Caravalle and Spiaggia del Sasso Cavallazzo, both beaches, as well as Parco Allea di San Luca, a park.
