The Museo delle Genti delle Valli di Lanzo presents the local culture of Ceres through past traditions and traditional crafts, with household objects and work tools.

The museum is divided into thematic areas covering the Lanzo Valleys, the people who live there, agriculture and livestock farming, artisanal work, flora, fauna and mineralogy. The range therefore extends from people’s working lives and livestock farming to the natural subjects of flora, fauna and mineralogy. A collection of nails also records that these were once forged in the valley and exported throughout Italy.

Church, Frescoes and Historic Buildings

The Chiesa parrocchiale dell’Assunta was built between 1733 and 1754. Inside is an 18th-century wooden pulpit made by the woodcarver Giuseppe Antonio Riva. The bell tower is designed in the Lombard-Gothic style, with biforate windows and a conical spire, and dates from the 12th century. Several periods are therefore directly connected in this building.

The Cappella di Voragno contains numerous frescoes, probably dating from the 17th century, which bear witness to the passage of the Holy Shroud through the Lanzo Valleys. The Ponte della Vana is a humpback bridge built in 1740. Both buildings complement the sacred and artisanal themes with pictorial evidence and historic infrastructure.

The Stazione di Ceres is also one of the town’s distinctive architectural features. It was built in 1915, based on a design by the engineer Scotti, as a three-storey railway building made of masonry and reinforced concrete, with a wooden pitched roof.

Circular Route to the Santuario di Santa Cristina

The Monte Santa Cristina circular route begins in Ceres, leads to the Santuario di Santa Cristina, descends to Cantoira and returns to Ceres via the road. This establishes a route with a start, destination, descent and return for your planning. The path can be considered a continuous loop and combines an excursion to a sanctuary with a connection to Cantoira.

The route from Ceres to the Santuario di Santa Cristina passes through beech and chestnut forests and offers views of the main peaks of Val Grande and Val d’Ala.
