Between a Nature Oasis and Mountain Trails

Premosello-Chiovenda combines nature experiences, historic sites, and trails with different focuses. The Bosco Tenso Nature Oasis was established on municipal land in 1990. The “Itinerario Bosco Tenso” trail connects this WWF nature oasis with the medieval village of Vogogna and begins next to Premosello-Chiovenda’s municipal sports field.

Hikes with Different Themes

The “Vivere in salita” trail begins in Premosello-Chiovenda and ends in Colloro. The outward journey takes about 50 minutes, while the return journey takes about 30 minutes. This easy hike follows a mule track or a well-marked trail. Twelve information panels describe moments from the life of a mountain community.

The Sentiero Geologico offers a different perspective. Without breaks, it takes about an hour. Between Vogogna and Premosello-Chiovenda, it offers the opportunity to, in a sense, cross the continental crust and view rocks that formed at different depths.

Churches and Historical Evidence

The culture of Premosello-Chiovenda includes several religious buildings. The parish church of Maria Vergine Assunta dates in its present form from the late 16th century or the first decades of the 17th century. Inside, it preserves Baroque woodwork, including confessionals, a pulpit, and a sacristy cabinet. The former ossuary next to the church was built in 1780.

The parish church of San Martino vescovo has an old sacristy dating from approximately 1200. The rebuilding of the church was completed in 1629. The church of San Martino in Cuzzago also contains statues from the “Compianti mutili,” works attributed to artists associated with Giovanni Angelo Del Maino.

Village Life and Local Working History

In Colloro, San Gottardo is celebrated every year on May 4 with a Mass and a procession through the village. Also located in Colloro is the Antico Torchio di Colloro, which dates from the second half of the 17th century. It was used to process grape pomace, walnuts, and rye into wine, lamp fuel, and flour.

The Museo Cà Vegia is associated with a former dairy consortium founded around the middle of the 19th century. Twice a day, this consortium brought the milk from the owners of 147 cattle to the dairy. For the Casa Museo Cà Vegia in Colloro, the municipality of Premosello-Chiovenda initiated an administrative procedure on May 13, 2026, with the aim of ensuring its opening to the public. Whether and in what form this opening will take is therefore not predetermined.
