Archaeology and Religious Architecture

Nuraghe Camboni is a complex Nuragic site with the remains of three or four towers along its edge. A supporting wall is more than four metres high in some places. A path in the archaeological area runs around the nuraghe and through the adjacent village to the east. Those interested in archaeology and historic settlement structures can take this area into account when planning their own day. This route can be noted in personal day planning as an archaeological section with a specific connection to the location.

Religious architecture includes the restored 13th-century Romanesque-Pisan church of San Giacomo. Its façade of dark volcanic stone is topped by a bell gable. For those interested in culture, the building's age, façade material and bell gable provide specific architectural points of reference side by side.

The Romanesque sanctuary of San Leonardo lies on the outskirts of Perdaxius among centuries-old olive trees. Its façade was reconstructed in the 17th century. The doors of the cabinet housing the image of the saint feature paintings from the Spanish period. Its location among olive trees provides the scenic setting for viewing the sanctuary.

In the district of Pesus stands Su Corrali, a Benedictine monastery. In the village of Su Moinu de Perdaxius, there are Bronze Age traces of burials in natural caves that were used as tombs. Both places broaden the perspective from visible architecture to religious and archaeological evidence.

Mediterranean Landscape and Local Traditions

Bacu ‘e Marronis is a natural area with a nature park overlooking a broad valley above the settlement of Perdaxius. The vegetation is characterised by particularly valuable Mediterranean maquis. This gives Perdaxius, alongside its architectural and cultural themes, a clearly distinctive landscape dimension. When planning a landscape-focused visit, the broad valley and the Mediterranean maquis can be considered as separate points of interest.

With Bacu ‘e Marronis and Nuraghe Camboni, Perdaxius offers a range extending from a natural area with Mediterranean maquis to a complex Nuragic site.

Perdaxius is one of the municipalities connected with the Cammino di Santu Jacu, a spiritual, historical, cultural, environmental and religious route.

The celebrations in honour of San Leonardo take place on Whit Sunday.

Perdaxius's homemade baking tradition includes semolina bread, wholemeal bread and wedding bread. Wedding bread is made for marriages.

Perdaxius has winegrowing, producing the grape varieties Carignano, Monica and Cannonau. These three names give the area's wine tradition a concrete character.
