Orosei combines a varied coastal landscape with a historic town centre and cultural traditions that remain visible throughout the year. The coast of Orosei stretches for 20 kilometres and includes sandy beaches, cliffs and green areas of considerable natural value. In the centre, small buildings made of stone and white lime, courtyards, numerous churches, arches and lushly planted small squares shape the townscape.

Coast, Cedrino and Osalla
The coastal landscape includes Osalla Bay and its beach. Above it stands Nuraghe Osalla, also known as Nuraghe Osala and Nuraghe Gulunie, on a small headland.
A special connection between tradition and water is represented by the Santa Maria 'e Mare tradition. On the last Sunday in May, a procession of flower-decorated boats carrying a statue of the Virgin Mary travels along the Cedrino.
Historic Centre and Architectural Traces
The Palathos Vezzos district forms the heart of Orosei's historic centre. Traditional houses and elegant palaces from the 16th and 17th centuries stand around the former seat of the medieval Curia Regni.
The Guiso-Satta Garden, a courtyard garden, is located in the Palatzos Vetzos or Palatthos Vezzos district. It combines food-producing plants for the family's needs, including citrus trees, herbs and quinces, with decorative flowering plants such as hydrangeas, roses, wisteria, jasmine and oleander. The garden is considered a rare, well-preserved example of a 19th-century aristocratic garden. The Museo Don Giovanni Guiso is a museum in Orosei.
The Church of San Giacomo Maggiore also makes its own architectural statement. Its façade is set laterally along the wall, complemented by a series of vaulted presbytery chapels arranged around the dome.
Religious Traditions Throughout the Year
During Lent, the Sas Rughes ceremony takes place every Friday in Orosei. It is joined by the Misteros procession on Holy Monday, which begins at the oratory of the Santa Croce confraternity. This procession was restored in the early 2000s. Lent and Holy Monday mark two distinct fixed points in Orosei's religious calendar, providing the respective framework for the ceremonies.

For active days on holiday, the Sea Roots Watersport School, founded in Orosei in 2015, offers surfing, electric surfboards, windsurfing, wing foiling, tandem windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing, catamaran trips, wakeboarding and kayaking, among other activities.
