Among the oldest archaeological artifacts represented in the Antiquarium are finds from Monte Roveto dating back to the Late Neolithic. The Attic pottery from the 5th century BC is also one of the notable pieces; it is considered to be of exceptionally high quality. At the Santa Croce-Fontana di Paolo site, three large cisterns containing material from the 6th to 5th century BC were also excavated.

Historic Center at the Foot of Monte Pecoraro

Casteltermini lies at the foot of Monte Pecoraro, which rises to 753 meters above sea level. The mountain setting shapes the town’s spatial character, while the historic center conveys its history through distinctive urban features. It was shaped by a large square with the palace of the town’s founder and a long street. Numerous homes, aristocratic residences, and churches were built there.

It is a remarkable example of industrial archaeology and complements the Antiquarium’s archaeological themes with the history of mining. The cultural spectrum thus extends from Late Neolithic artifacts and ancient pottery to a site connected with the region’s industrial past.
