Prati and Moos near Wiesen: history on site

Castel Palù (Moos Castle) is a 14th-century building and one of the oldest buildings in Prati. The complex was first mentioned in writing in 1325. Immediately beside Castel Palù stands Palais Wiesenheim, with its distinctive corner tower and oriel window. Together, the two buildings form a closely situated historical point of reference in Prati, while retaining their different architectural features.

The Parish Church of the Holy Cross also reflects several historical periods. The present granite-block building was constructed in 1515 by the architect Adam Schaiter from Sterzing. Inside, the vault frescoes are by Josef Renzler and date from 1841. This historical span is complemented by a Gothic crucifix from the first half of the 13th century.

The octagonal Holy Sepulchre Chapel stands in Moos near Wiesen. It was built at the behest of Daniel von Elzenbaum and consecrated in 1681. The Holy Sepulchre is still opened and decorated there every year at Easter.
