Bieno is located on a scenic glacial moraine terrace. Its mountain area is shaped by the Sottogruppo di Rava. This gives you a townscape where mountain landscapes, trails, historical traces and local cuisine stand side by side. The various themes make Bieno interesting if you would like to combine nature experiences and regional characteristics in one stay.

Landscape and distinctive trails

In the Guizza forest, the Boali of Bieno are measures for soil consolidation and hydrogeological protection. You will find another special feature at Maso Weiss: the striking lime tree can be reached via a convenient walk, and its crown covers an area of 700 m². At the same time, it is a special lime tree that is not widespread in the forests of Trentino.

Walks and hikes

Bieno has walking paths through green meadows and quiet forests that are suitable for different age groups and needs. Access to Bieno's nature trails is barrier-free and well signposted. A small waterfall is located at the Pison spring, blending into the landscape of forest and meadow paths.

The Lastra-Castrozze walking path leads from the Lusumina bridge along a white country road to the town of Bieno. The area around Bieno is particularly suitable for hikes in the geographical group of the Rava and Ravetta areas. This allows you to choose between a short walk and an excursion more focused on the mountain landscape, without conflating the different character of the trails.

Roman road, church and stoneworking tradition

The ancient Roman road Via Claudia Augusta Altinate runs through Bieno. Its historical character also includes the church of San Biagio Vescovo e Martire: it is documented as early as 1531 and was rebuilt in 1606 on the site of an earlier church building. Bieno also has a stoneworking tradition connected with granite extraction in the nearby quarries of Rava.

Radicchio as part of the local cuisine

Red radicchio is a traditional part of the local culinary heritage. It is processed into products preserved in oil, a sauce and a sweet cream. By telephone appointment, Azienda Agricola Busarello offers tours of its vegetable processing facility. This allows you to discover the regional speciality not only as part of the cuisine, but also in connection with its processing.

A culinary event in October

The Festa del Radicchio di Bieno is associated with the first Sunday in October, themed menus and entertainment for the whole family. If you would like to plan your trip around regional specialities and community events, this is one of the dates you can take into account when planning.
