Pracorno between the Rabbies and terraced fields

Pracorno is the first place you reach in Val di Rabbi when coming from Malé. The village lies on the orographic left bank of the Rabbies, meaning the left side in the direction of the river’s flow, and is characterized by terraced fields. The river location and terraced fields give the village a distinctly rural setting.

Madonna di Caravaggio Church

A cultural focal point is the Madonna di Caravaggio Church in Pracorno. It was built between 1846 and 1850. Around 1937, Agostino Aldi frescoed scenes from the life of Mary in its apse. There is also an 18th-century canvas depicting the Madonna di Caravaggio. The construction period, frescoes and canvas bring architecture and art together in one specific location.

Routes from Pracorno and through the mountains

Several trails offer different highlights. The “Cima Lac e Malga Mondent” route begins in Pracorno, follows the road to Ingenga to Malga Mondent Bassa and then continues to Malga Mondent Alta. The route to Malga Cortinga Alta starts at the Masi di Zora above Pracorno, runs through Stelvio National Park and leads to Malga Cortinga Alta. Along the way, it passes close to Malga Mondent Bassa and Malga Mondent Alta. The respective starting point is important when planning your route.

Trails with different layouts are also part of the area’s character. “La Lec di Malé e Pracorno” is a level circular route from Molino Ruatti to Località Pozze and passes through Pracorno’s small hamlets. “La Via delle Malghe” comprises more than 100 kilometres of signposted trails that can be walked in several stages. Refreshment options are available along the Via delle Malghe. This means the circular route and the stage-based option can be planned separately.

Mountains and waterfalls in the surrounding area

The immediate surroundings of Pracorno include Cima Vese, a summit, and Cima delle Mandrie, a mountain. Cascata del Pison is a waterfall near Pracorno. Cascate di Saent are waterfalls in the same area. Different alpine landscape forms therefore come together around the village.

Castles, ruins and other cultural attractions

Cultural attractions in the surroundings of Pracorno include Castello di Cles, a castle. In the wider regional area are Castel Thun, also a castle, Castel Sporo Rovina, a ruin, and Chiesa Madonna di Campiglio, a church. For cultural excursions, you can therefore distinguish between castles, a ruin and a religious site.

A hotel in Pracorno as your base

If you choose a hotel in Pracorno, you can consider the village’s location, the church and the trails with their different routes together when deciding where to stay. The “Cima Lac e Malga Mondent” route begins in the village, while other trails start from additional points in the surrounding area. For your personal planning, it may therefore be useful to distinguish between visiting the village, the circular route, stage-based trails, and regional cultural and landscape attractions.
