Brez among Churches and Mountain Trails

Brez connects village churches with trails leading into higher-altitude landscapes. In Brez and its hamlets stand churches such as Santa Maria Ausiliatrice, San Floriano, and Fabiano and Sebastiano; from the Forcella di Brez, trails lead to Malga Monte Ori and Malga di Brez.

The church of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice in Brez houses a large 17th-century wooden crucifix. It was formerly kept in San Floriano.

Churches and Landmarks in the Village

The present parish church of San Floriano is located near the hamlet of Arsio, one of the villages of Brez, and was built in 1517.

The church of Saints Fabiano and Sebastiano stands along Brez's main road. It is one of the smaller churches that served the various villages in the area.

In the parish of Brez, Saint Florian is particularly celebrated as the patron saint. Our Lady of Sorrows is also particularly celebrated there.

The Monumento al Minatore stands in the square in Rivo, a hamlet of Brez.

Trails Starting from the Forcella di Brez

Malga Monte Ori can be reached from the Forcella di Brez via a footpath of approximately seven kilometres with around 500 metres of elevation gain. With a route of approximately seven kilometres and around 500 metres of elevation gain, your personal day plan should allow for the entire walk.

The pastureland around Malga Monte Ori includes forests, pastures and peat bogs, as well as the protected provincial biotope of Monte Sous (Selva).

The trail from the Forcella di Brez to Malga di Brez is walked on foot because the access road is closed to motor vehicles, and follows trails marked in white and red.

The route along the ridge between Passo di Brez and Monte Ozolo begins at Passo di Brez and leads to Monte Ozolo. From there, it offers views across the entire Non Valley and of Lago di Santa Giustina.

From the Forcella di Brez, the route initially follows signpost A32. After approximately 750 metres, take trail A29 to Passo di Cloz at the junction on the right.

From the Orchard to the Rugged Mountain Landscape

In the Brez-Novella area, the landscape shaped by orchards gradually changes into a narrower, more rugged landscape with large coniferous forests.

The pastureland around Malga Monte Ori lies between 1,700 and 1,900 metres above sea level. To plan your trip, you can combine the churches in Brez and the Monumento al Minatore in Rivo with the trails from the Forcella di Brez to Malga Monte Ori.
