Accommodation in Campitello Die Fassa
Between Val Duron and Col Rodella
Campitello di Fassa lies at the entrance to Val Duron, which takes its name from the Rio Duron flowing through the village. The valley opens out into extensive meadows and flower-filled areas dotted with mountain huts, and is crossed by the Rio Duron. Val Duron is an ideal starting point for hikes towards Passo Duron. The first section from Campitello is closed to motorized traffic. From May to October, a minibus taxi service connects Strèda de Salin in Campitello with Rifugio Micheluzzi in Val Duron. When planning your route locally, it is important to clearly distinguish between the closed first section of the valley and the seasonal connection to Rifugio Micheluzzi.
Hiking trails with different levels of difficulty
The Friedrich August Trail was inaugurated on July 30, 1911, and is dedicated to King Friedrich August III of Saxony. The section of this trail up to Rifugio Sandro Pertini is suitable for families with children. You can hike it with a baby carrier or a framed child carrier backpack, but not with a stroller. Another connection is Trail No. 557: it leads from Sellapass via Sela Rodela to the former Seiseralpe hut.
Col Rodella, winter sports and climbing
The cable car from Campitello ascends to Col Rodella at an altitude of 2,480 meters. The Belvedere–Col Rodella ski area is accessible via lifts in the town centers of Canazei and Campitello. Winter sports activities focus on Col Rodella and the lifts in Campitello and Canazei.
Sporting experiences in the Ischia district
In Campitello di Fassa, near the Col Rodella cable-car station in the Ischia district, is the modern ADEL sport climbing center. It is certified to host international competitions. The Centro sportivo Ischia offers facilities and equipment for tennis, soccer, small-sided soccer, beach volleyball, basketball, bocce, roller skating and mini-golf. The Ischia area also includes an adventure park among the trees with a zip line crossing over the Avisio River.
Ladinian history and local tradition
The townscape of Campitello di Fassa also reflects historical influences. L Stont – Il Casino di Bersaglio is a historic shooting range built in 1905 that operated until the outbreak of the First World War. The “L carnascèr” carnival is one of the major events in Campitello di Fassa. Pian, a district of Campitello di Fassa, is a collection of historic hay barns. The district is also an old Ladin shepherd settlement and is now protected for environmental and urban-planning reasons. For those interested in culture, Campitello connects the shooting range and Pian with local history and tradition.
