Cunevo Between Churches, Pine Forests and Ancient Paths
Accommodation in Cunevo
Cunevo combines historical traces with paths through a distinctive landscape. In the Church of San Lorenzo, frescoes by Giovanni and Battista Baschenis, dated to 1490, provide a special focal point. In the town center, the Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore is another notable religious building. At the same time, the Sentiero Margherita along the Lez irrigation canal and a moderately difficult mountain bike route lead through different types of landscape.

Churches and Historical Traces
The Church of San Lorenzo in Cunevo probably dates back to the 13th century. It contains frescoes by Giovanni and Battista Baschenis, dated to 1490. Thus, a place with a long architectural history and a specifically dated artistic testimony come together here. If you are planning a culturally oriented stay, San Lorenzo offers a clear historical connection without requiring any further assumptions about the building’s characteristics.
The Chiesa del Redentore was built around 1850 in the center of Cunevo and ceremonially consecrated on August 11, 1876. It is larger than the previous church. Castel La Santa lies south of Cunevo in a commanding position. In addition, the remains of the ancient Castel Corona, set into a rock cave, are located along the road to Malga d’Arza. Churches, architectural history and these historical traces therefore offer different points of reference for exploring the area around Cunevo.
Pine Forests and Fruit Growing
The surrounding pine forests give Cunevo a distinctive, picturesque character. As a result, the landscape is not merely a backdrop for individual excursions but also shapes the impression of the town. If you value a rural setting and a quieter atmosphere when choosing your destination, this connection with the landscape is one of Cunevo’s essential features.
Cunevo is also an important center of fruit growing, particularly apple production. During a stay, therefore, not only churches and historic sites take center stage, but also the agricultural character of the surrounding area.
Paths Along the Lez Irrigation Canal
The sixth stage of the Cammino Jacopeo d’Anaunia leads to Cunevo and onward toward Castel La Santa. For planning purposes, the exact sequence is important: on this stage, Cunevo lies between the preceding route and the continuation toward Castel La Santa.
The Sentiero Margherita is a level path running along the Lez irrigation canal. The canal was built more than 160 years ago to irrigate the fields of Terres, Flavon and Cunevo. At the start of the Sentiero Margherita, on the road from Cunevo toward Malga Arza, there is a parking bay and a large wooden information board with an aerial map of the route and the history of the old Lez. This specific orientation point is located directly at the trail access point.
Mountain Bike Route on Monte Corno
For mountain bike enthusiasts, the route begins at the foot of Monte Corno in Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, at Bar Ciclamino in Cunevo. The route is moderately difficult and runs through forests at medium elevations. It therefore differs clearly from the level course of the Sentiero Margherita: here, the focus is on mountain biking, forest sections and changing elevations.
The mountain bike route reaches Malga Arza at an elevation of 1,506 meters. There are extensive alpine pastures there, with views over the lower Non Valley. For planning an excursion, this route combines a specific starting point in Cunevo, forest sections at medium elevations and a higher-lying landscape. The moderately difficult rating remains the decisive classification of the route.
