When considering Levico Terme for an independent trip to Italy, you can look at the town through several key aspects: historic parkland, spa history, lakeshore and sacred art. When choosing a hotel or other accommodation, this classification can help you clarify your own daily rhythm. You can decide whether waterside paths, cycling, culture or local history should shape your stay, without conflating the different facets of Levico Terme.

Historic Park and Cycling Paths

The Parco delle Terme di Levico is the most important historic park in the Province of Trento and was laid out at the beginning of the 20th century. Its paths are accessible to pedestrians and cyclists; motor vehicle traffic is prohibited. The Valsugana is also crossed by a scenic cycle path that connects it with Trento and Bassano del Grappa (VI).

Culture between Church, Villa and Tower

Villa Paradiso houses the permanent exhibition “SPAZI CÓLTI: i giardini nella storia d'occidente” on the history of parks and gardens. The Chiesetta di San Biagio is a 13th-century church on the hill of San Biagio, which bears the same name. Inside, there are 14th-century frescoes by various artists from the Venetian pre-Giotto and Giotto schools. The church also stands on an as-yet-unexplored archaeological site near an ancient Castelliere.

The Torre Belvedere stands in the heart of Levico and was built in the first half of the 19th century as part of a romantic garden. The octagonal tower is 18 metres high; an external stone spiral staircase is embedded in the masonry.

A Long Spa History

The Terme di Levico has a history spanning more than a century and a half. The first organised stays for spa guests began in Levico Terme in the 19th century. The history of the spa provides a historical reference point when choosing the town if you are looking not only for scenery but also for a spa tradition.

Lago di Levico and the Strada dei Pescatori

At the southern end of Lago di Levico lies the Canneto di Levico biotope, a protected area of naturalistic interest. The lake shores have equipped beaches, a free beach with a large lawn park, and easy paths near the water. The Strada dei Pescatori begins at the free beach in Parco Segantini in Levico Terme and follows an unpaved path. The route can be walked at any time of year. Its first section is accessible to and navigable with pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Accommodation Based on Your Preferred Travel Focus

When choosing a hotel or other accommodation in Levico Terme, you can therefore plan according to your preferred focus: the Parco delle Terme di Levico and the cycle path through the Valsugana represent paths and cycling; the Chiesetta di San Biagio, Villa Paradiso and the Torre Belvedere represent historical and cultural themes. Your accommodation decision can be guided by which of these focuses is most important to you.
