Tenna between two lakes and historic traces

The Colle di Tenna separates Lago di Levico from Lago di Caldonazzo. The Chiesetta di San Valentino stands on its ridge along the ancient Via Claudia Augusta Altinate; from there, views extend over Lago di Caldonazzo and Lago di Levico. Anyone wishing to combine lakeside scenery and history will find a clear focus for trip planning in these two themes.

Forest trails and viewpoints

In Tenna, there is a nature trail at the Biotopo di Pizé in Val de l'Orco. On the northern side of Tenna, another nature trail leads through the forest and Val de l'Orco to Alberè Park, where nature and art come together. The Pineta dell’Alberè lies at the highest point of the hill. The experience of the landscape thus ranges from a biotope and forest trails to an elevated point.

The Bosco della Memoria complements this perspective with outdoor works: the walking path is 480 metres long and includes 23 works by artists from Trentino. Two viewpoints in the Bosco della Memoria offer views of Lago di Levico. This creates a walk in which art and views of the lake are an immediate part of the trail experiences described.

Hiking over high ground and past historic sites

The Dòs dei Osèi trail runs over the high ground near Lago di Caldonazzo. The Giro del Colle di Tenna is an 11.5-kilometre hike through nature, with views of Lago di Levico and Lago di Caldonazzo; it passes close to Forte di Tenna and the Chiesetta di San Valentino and can be started in Tenna. If you compare different types of trails, this provides distinct focal points including high ground, nature, lake views and historic buildings.

The Forte and Roman road history

Forte di Tenna was built between 1880 and 1882 as part of the Austro-Hungarian defence system that blocked off the Valsugana. A Roman milestone found in Tenna bears the inscription XXXXI [M(ilia) p(assuum)], indicating the distance from Feltre. The milestone from the Via Claudia Augusta now stands by the town hall on Via Venezia. In Tenna, you can therefore encounter both the military history of the late 19th century and evidence of Roman road history.

Art and family trails

The I Segreti degli Gnomi walking trail is divided into two routes: the route with the red gnome is dedicated to children, while the one with the green gnome is for families. If you are travelling with children or planning a family-oriented walking trail, this clear division helps with orientation. Together with the Bosco della Memoria and Alberè Park, the trail broadens the range of experiences between nature, art and family-focused activities.
