Luco Square and the Monastery of San Pietro
For more than 14 years, Fido went to the bus stop in Luco Square every day, until his death on June 8, 1958. The history of the Monastery of San Pietro in Luco began in 1086, when Blessed Rodolfo Falcucci acquired land and an oratory in Chisciano. He wanted to establish a Camaldolese nunnery there.

In 1527, the nuns of Luco provided shelter to a prominent Florentine painter who sought refuge there from the plague raging mainly in Florence. The year 1527 followed the beginning of the monastery’s history in 1086.
