Villa Le Sorti: History and Landscape

Villa Le Sorti is among the historic buildings in Lastra a Signa due to its historical significance. Its first core was built at the end of the 14th century and completed around the 15th century. The villa was initially a monastery and later an aristocratic residence. A private chapel recalls this monastic past. The building is surrounded by 57 hectares of land with woodland, a lake and olive groves. This gives the site a clearly documented architectural history combined with specific landscape features.

Villa Schupfer, formerly Pandolfini, in Marliano is also protected as a historic monument. The original protection order dates from 4 August 1938 under Law 364/1909; a later measure is dated 25 September 2008 under Law 42/2004. S. Maria a Marliano is a parish church in Lastra a Signa. The Chiesa Santa Maria a Marliano in Località Marliano is part of the protected cultural heritage; the corresponding measure is dated 23 March 1998.

Da Bobo All'acciaiolo and the Anfiteatro delle Cascine, both ancient sites, are located in the surrounding area. Also nearby are the Palazzo Pretorio, a palace, and La Cupola, a peak. The Badia di S.
