Fosciandora between the Serchio Valley and the Apuan Alps

The Fosciandora area stretches along the left slope of the middle Serchio Valley and offers views of the Apuan Alps. Le Prade: Plateau, forest and a fixed date

Le Prade is a distinctive landscape area. The extensive plateau lies at about 1,000 metres above sea level and is approximately a half-hour drive from the village of La Villa. It is surrounded by dense forests of beech, birch, hazel and chestnut trees. The Festa dei Pastori takes place in Le Prade every year on the first Sunday in August. This date provides a clear time frame for a stay intended to combine the landscape with this local event.

The Sentieri delle Tre Terre project offers three organized trails in Fosciandora. Along the routes, QR codes provide historical, cultural and natural-history information. The area around the Torrente Rimonio is of natural-history and historical interest and is also a hub where the trails cross in the Fosciandora area. This gives exploration an added dimension beyond the physical activity itself.

Religious buildings and Rocca di Ceserana

The Church of San Sebastiano in Fosciandora was founded in the first half of the 17th century. The Oratory of San Michele Arcangelo in Migliano (Fosciandora) was built in the 10th century. The two religious buildings therefore represent different historical periods within the area.

The Rocca di Ceserana church contains wooden statues of Saint James and Saint Andrew dating from the late 14th century.

Products in the regional cuisine

In Fosciandora, you can enjoy typical dishes based on Farro della Garfagnana IGP. Typical sweet and savoury preparations, including soups, cakes and salads, are also made with Farina di Neccio DOP.
