Miglianello: Villas, Olive Groves and Views of the Islands

Villa ex De Rossi in Miglianello was originally established as an Olivetan monastery. In the 18th century, the Papanti family from Pisa converted the villa into a residential villa. A noble chapel stands next to the villa. Parts of the former monastery complex have been preserved at the rear; the rooms are now used as storage and as an olive mill. Monastic origins, later residential use and present-day functions thus come together within the same complex.

Another villa is Villa ex Buonvisi in Loc. Miglianello No. 207. Until 2020, it could be visited on the first Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. by telephone appointment in advance.

Hiking and Cycling

Miglianello is the destination of a hike organized by the Club Alpino Italiano, whose route follows a singletrack. The Montepitoro–Miglianello route is considered a panoramic route on a paved road and includes a pleasant section between the houses of Miglianello. The route is suitable for city bikes, touring bikes, road bikes, gravel bikes and mountain bikes. For your planning, a singletrack, a paved panoramic route and a section between the houses therefore differ significantly in their form.

Olive Groves and Island Views

In the surroundings of Miglianello, the Sentiero delle Stipe continues through impressively terraced olive groves to Montigiano. On clear days, Gorgona, Capraia and Corsica can be clearly seen from the hanging garden below or from the square in front of the church. The landscape and views therefore form a distinct focus alongside the villas and the paths.
