The area once occupied by Castello di Monteggiori corresponds to the present-day village area of Monteggiori. Castello di Monteggiori has been documented in written records since 1224 and belonged to the Bozzano nobles. In the south of the village area, a continuous, U-shaped section of the ring wall has been preserved; its maximum preserved length is approximately 80 metres. The only gate of Castello di Monteggiori retains its original form.
