Wine, Olive Oil and Tuscan Cuisine

Fattoria Lornano has been producing Chianti Classico since 1904. The Lornano estate covers 180 hectares, where grapevines, olive trees and grain are cultivated. The vineyards of Fattoria Lornano produce Chianti Classico, Chianti Colli Senesi, Rosso Toscano IGT and Vin Santo Chianti Classico. The fattoria also produces extra virgin olive oil.

Several offers combine these products with an insight into the local history. “A Taste of Lornano” includes a guided tour of the historic 15th-century cellars, a tasting of three Lornano wines and a tasting of Lornano extra virgin olive oil.

“Into the vineyards” introduces you to the terroir of Chianti Classico on a walk through the vineyards of Lornano. The experience also includes extra virgin olive oil, Pecorino, ham, salami and bruschetta for tasting. The walk is available by reservation only and is not offered during the winter season.

In the “Tuscan cooking class & tasting”, you will learn how to prepare tagliatelle, bruschetta with tomatoes and tiramisu. The class also includes a visit to the historic cellars of Fattoria Lornano. The lunch prepared during the class is paired with four wines from Lornano’s production.

“Light Lunch at the Winery” combines a visit to the historic cellars with a typical light Tuscan lunch. The menu includes ham, salami, Pecorino and bruschetta as possible starters, pasta or lasagne as the first course, and Vinsanto and Cantucci for dessert. If you choose accommodation in Lornano, you can tailor your stay specifically around wine, regional cuisine or walks.

Historical Traces in Lornano

The old church of Lornano has been documented since the 9th century. Fattoria Lornano was originally built in the 15th century; the present structure dates from the second half of the 18th century. Lornano was also an old post station of the Republic of Siena. At the parish church of San Giovanni Battista in Lornano, the roof, load-bearing walls, façades and foundations were consolidated and restored.

Paths, Circular Walks and Travel Options

Route 336 – Il Castello di Rencine begins in Lornano and follows an ancient road to Castello di Rencine. Lornano is 2 km from Badesse railway station. For this route, travelling by car to Lornano and taking the train to Badesse are possible travel options. The combination of a historic path and a former post station makes the starting point particularly interesting for visitors who want to combine landscape and history.

The Anello di Lornano circular trail is of moderate difficulty and includes a few short but fairly demanding climbs. This classification is therefore just as relevant to your personal planning as the seasonal restriction on the vineyard walk: both options require a deliberate choice based on the experience you want and the time of year you are travelling.
