Corsignano among vineyards, village history and Chieci

Corsignano is a historically shaped settlement that developed linearly along the main road. This clear structure is precisely what makes the place interesting for travelers who want to understand Italian history not only through individual monuments, but also through streetscapes and organically developed townscapes. The main road is part of the historic road network and gives Corsignano a clearly recognizable framework. When visiting, attention should therefore also be paid to the streetscape between the individual houses.

Historic Road and Wine Landscape

The Fattoria di Corsignano in Località Corsignano, Castelnuovo Berardenga, covers 22 hectares of woodland, vineyards and olive groves. Around seven hectares are used for wine production. The estate has been organically certified since 2014 and produces 40,000 bottles. These include Chianti Classico DOCG, Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG, Rosso Toscana IGT, Rosato Toscana IGT, Vinsanto and Grappa di Chianti Classico. The landscape of the Fattoria therefore cannot be reduced to vines; woodland and olive groves are equally part of its spatial setting.

At the restaurant of the Fattoria di Corsignano, the kitchen team uses vegetables from the estate's own synergy garden for the main courses.

Agriculture and Older Settlement Traces

Complicità has three hectares of Chianti Classico vineyards and one hectare of olive groves in Corsignano. The hamlet of Chieci, which dates back to around the year 1000 and is also located in Corsignano, is also part of the Complicità agricultural company's estate. Viticulture, olive cultivation and older traces of settlement are thus closely connected thematically in Corsignano.

Chieci: Church and View

Chieci includes a church known as Chiesa di Santa Maria. From its elevated location, Chieci offers a wide-open view. From Chieci, the view therefore extends beyond the hamlet into the surrounding landscape.

Paths and Public Connections

A 300-meter-long unpaved path leads from the Fattoria di Corsignano to the old village of Corsignano. Alongside the short distance, the unpaved surface is a specific characteristic of this path and should be taken into account when planning the route.

The S34 interurban bus connects Vagliagli, Corsignano, Pontignano and Ponte a Bozzone; the summer timetable is valid from July 27, 2026.

Hiking as a Longer Leg

As part of a hiking trip organized by the Touring Club Italiano and scheduled from November 4 to November 9, 2025, a 10.5-kilometer trekking stage led from Radda in Chianti to Corsignano. For daily planning, the November dates and the distance of 10.5 kilometers provide a fixed framework; Radda in Chianti is the starting point and Corsignano the destination.
