Camposampiero between sanctuaries and countryside

Camposampiero combines religiously influenced culture, traces of the Middle Ages and a landscape shaped by spring waters. At the same time, paths and natural areas offer various ways to combine a stay with walks, cycling stages or encounters with nature.

Sanctuaries and art history

The Santuario del Noce was commissioned in 1432 by Count Gregorio Callegari di Camposampiero. Inside, it features a fresco cycle by Girolamo Tessari (Del Santo) depicting the miracles attributed to Saint Anthony. The apse is dominated by an altarpiece by Bonifacio De Pitati. It shows Saint Anthony preaching from the walnut tree.

The Santuario della Visione is also closely associated with the veneration of Saint Anthony. It preserves the cell in which the saint had the vision of embracing the infant Jesus. Camposampiero is also home to the Madonna della Salute, a Renaissance oratory of popular devotion. The Festa della Madonna della Salute takes place in Camposampiero every year on 21 November. As a fixed annual date, it can be taken into account when planning a visit.

Paths, market and historical traces

The Ultimo Cammino connects the sanctuaries of Camposampiero with the Santuario dell’Arcella and the Basilica del Santo. The route is approximately 25 kilometres long. When planning your own day, this approximate length should be taken into account as a longer route. The Treviso–Ostiglia cycle and footpath runs near the Santuario del Noce in Camposampiero.

A town market is held every Wednesday in Piazza Castello. The event therefore recurs weekly and is not tied to a single festival. The tall Torre della Rocca also bears witness to the area’s history: it is the only tangible testimony to Camposampiero’s medieval past. Camposampiero lies in the landscape of the Roman centuriation known as the Graticolato Romano, which was laid out around the 1st century BC.

Fontane Bianche wetland

The Risorgive Fontane Bianche area lies between the municipalities of Santa Giustina in Colle and Camposampiero. Its nature park area includes the 18th-century Chiesetta di San Prosdocimo and a wetland shaped by emerging springs. Nature and local history stand side by side here: the chapel complements the wetland shaped by emerging springs with a built structure. The spring waters of the Risorgive Fontane Bianche shape a distinctive habitat there, with rich flora and fauna, some of which is endemic to the area. The site is visited for nature-focused excursions.

Practical orientation on site

The Santuari Antoniani area can be reached on foot from Camposampiero railway station in less than 10 minutes. The station is therefore a starting point for walking to the Santuari Antoniani. There is a bookshop, a self-service refreshment area, toilets and a drinking-water fountain there.
