Ceregnano: Culture, Canal Bianco and Countryside Routes

Ceregnano combines cultural heritage with the Canal Bianco and routes through the surrounding area. The town center is home to the Chiesa di San Martino Vescovo and the Oratorio B.V. Addolorata; several historic complexes are located along the Canal Bianco.

Church, Oratory and Historic Traces

The Chiesa di San Martino Vescovo in the center of Ceregnano is a parish church and is recognized as being of cultural interest in accordance with Article 12 of Italian heritage protection law. The earliest surviving references concern three notarial deeds drawn up in Rovigo on April 26, 1296. Its exterior features a tall, three-part Neoclassical façade. Also in the town center, on Via Verdi, is the Oratorio B.V. Addolorata, which is recognized as being of cultural interest under the same article of Italian heritage protection law.

Several historic complexes are located along different sections of the Canal Bianco. Corte detta “Le Procurative” is one of the complexes listed as IRVV villas and is located in Località Procurative, in a bend of the Canal Bianco. Tenuta Stellà is also known as Corte Ferrari-Pizzardo and is likewise one of the complexes listed as IRVV villas. It is located near the village of Lama on the left bank of the Canal Bianco, along the road to Baricetta. Casa Passarella is one of the complexes listed as IRVV villas and is located on the road along the left embankment of the Canal Bianco toward the Adriatic, before the bridge at Gavello.

More recent commemorative culture is also present in Ceregnano. The “Percorso della memoria” commemorates massacres during the Second World War with memorial plaques. In the hamlet of Pezzoli, the Museo della Boje is associated with the peasant movement that emerged there in 1884.

Canal Bianco, Railway and Cycle Paths

The Canal Bianco is more than just a landscape landmark. In Ceregnano, it has a boat landing that includes an area for outdoor tourism. Ceregnano is connected to Rovigo by a cycle path along the Adigetto. Regional train 18096 from Lama to Rovigo stops in Ceregnano and allows bicycles to be carried.

Other routes are intended for different forms of travel. The Ippovia Canalbianco riding route runs along wooded riverbanks, where the Bosco della Palà is located. The Ciclovia della Felicità offers a shorter option of around 25 kilometers via the Ponte di Lama. In addition, a tourism project for Ceregnano provided for five signposted walking routes, including the “Procurative” route. When planning, you should therefore distinguish between a cycle tour, a shorter option, a riding route and the walking network explicitly planned as a project.

Festivals and Local Culture

The Ceregnano in Fiera 2023 event took place from September 1 to September 3 and from September 8 to September 10 at Piazza Guglielmo Marconi. The 2024 edition of Ceregnano in Fiera included street food.
