The Chiesa Romanica di Raccano and its bell tower provide a deep insight into the history of architecture: experts date the earliest core of the building to the 13th or 14th century. During extensive restoration work in 1940, a fresco believed to date from the 15th century was discovered. It depicts the Madonna, the Child and two angels. Moisture had damaged the painting; the Soprintendenza ai Beni Artistici e Ambientali transferred it to a panel.

Villa Morosini is located beneath the left bank of the Po, about one kilometre from Polesella; its construction has been attributed to Vincenzo Scamozzi. It houses the Carrain Collection, featuring works by the renowned Venetian artists Vedova, Santomaso, Pizzinato and Birolli.

By the Water: Route, Canal and River

The Fossa di Polesella tourist route is characterised by embankments, floodplains, river jetties and small harbours, Venetian villas, evidence of industrial and hydraulic engineering archaeology, rural farmsteads and sacred architecture. La Fossa itself is now a small canal rich in fish, with banks covered in lush reeds. Finches, river nightingales, wrens, reed warblers and great reed warblers can be seen there.

On the Po, Il Porticciolo complements the waterscape: this equipped rest area for river tourism has moorings for canoes and boats. The Botte Paleocapa is a three-pipe hydraulic culvert that runs beneath the Fossa Polesella and its embankments and was built in 1566.

The Basilica di Santa Maria del Rosario also forms part of the town’s historical layers. Construction began on 28 November 1734 with the blessing of the cornerstone by the archpriest don Domenico Cullatti.

Arenile Canon is a sandy beach near Molo Micheli. On hot summer days, it is used as a meeting place and for swimming in the river.
