Discover Levada: Frescoes, Brewing Culture and the Via Postumia

Levada combines art-historical traces, regional brewing culture and clearly defined routes through the area. The Church of San Bonifacio Martire, the San Gabriel brewery shop, the Borgo della Birra and the Via Postumia route offer different reasons to explore Levada attentively.

San Bonifacio and Levada’s Art History

The ancient small parish church of San Bonifacio in Levada preserves numerous 15th-century frescoes. It also contains the Madonna della Rondine fresco, dated to the early years of the 16th century. During the work carried out at the beginning of the 16th century, two altarpieces for the Church of San Bonifacio Martire were commissioned from Francesco Bissolo. The church’s dedication is unique in the Diocese of Treviso.

Another visible sign of remembrance is the Monumento ai Caduti. The sculpture is made of Sarone stone and was created by Elena Ortica and Gaetano Brugnaro. It commemorates the fallen of all wars and serves as a place of remembrance in Levada.

Beer, Barley and Traditional Cuisine

The origins of the San Gabriel brewery date back to 1997. Since 2006, the brewery has grown two-row barley directly in the Province of Treviso. The wild hop variety bruscandolo also grows in the San Gabriel area; it is associated with the historic brewing of beer in the region’s abbeys.

At the San Gabriel brewery shop in Levada, you will find all the brewery’s labels and all its beer varieties. The Osteria della Birra serves traditional cuisine and includes a historical exhibition on the history of breweries. This makes it possible to combine local food, beer culture and historical connections in one place.

Experiences for Different Interests

At the Borgo della Birra, you can see the farm animals, ride on the old train and try out games from earlier times. This appeals to different interests and adds playful, family-friendly elements to your stay alongside the brewing culture.

The programme for Levada in Festa 2026 included Camminando per Levada, a 6 km recreational and sporting run.

Directions and Cycling Route

Levada has a roundabout at the intersection of S.R. 53 Postumia with S.P. 117 Via della Vittoria and Via Ferrovia. The Via Postumia route leads from Levada via Via della Vittoria, Via Chiodo and Via Grassaghella.
