Santa Lucia di Piave reveals its cultural side through sacred buildings, a fair with medieval connections and waterside routes. The Santuario della Beata Vergine del Ramoncello was built towards the end of the 16th century. The parish church of Santa Lucia di Piave is a neo-Gothic sanctuary that was inaugurated in 1878 and consecrated in 1907.
Sacred Art from Several Periods
The parish church has a high altar designed according to a plan by Rupolo and built in 1913. The furnishings also include a painting created by Bruno De Giusti in 1944 depicting Saint Rita. The wooden crucifix carved in the 18th century is attributed to the school of Andrea Brustolon. Rita appears in the painting, Lucia in the statue; the Stations of the Cross complement both references to the saints. In the church interior, the high altar, painting and wooden crucifix represent different periods of creation.
Further works complement the church's furnishings: The holy water font and the statue of Saint Lucia were created by Blessed Claudio Granzotto. There is also a Stations of the Cross created by Luigi Da Rios. The holy water font and the statue of Lucia were both made by the same artist, Blessed Claudio Granzotto.
Fair History and Remembrance Culture
The Scuola Bombardieri del Re is a themed museum dedicated to the First World War. It is housed in the former training school of the Bombardieri del Re. The Antica Fiera di Santa Lucia di Piave focuses on a different historical theme: It recreates the historic fair of the 14th century. A medieval fair is recreated along a route through the town. The museum is housed in a former training school; the Fiera uses two former Filanda industrial buildings for this purpose. Both sites address historical themes from different eras: the museum focuses on the First World War, while the Fiera focuses on the Middle Ages.
The programme begins in July with a medieval banquet. Events with a medieval theme take place in mid-October, including concerts and performances, craft demonstrations and conferences. For seasonal planning, the banquet and the October programme take place in different months. The fair combines historical reenactment, crafts, music, stage performances and lectures. The Santa Lucia di Piave fairgrounds comprise more than 3,000 m² of covered space in two completely renovated former Filanda industrial buildings. The former Filanda buildings shape the setting of the covered fair area.
Walking and Cycling by the Water
The Passeggiata delle Tre Acque follows the cycle and pedestrian path along the embankment on the banks of the Crevada to the Tre Acque locality. This is where the Crevada, Ferrera and Monticano converge.
Another route is the Cammino del Beato Claudio. It is a spiritual and cultural route from Santa Lucia di Piave to Chiampo. The two routes each have different destinations: Tre Acque and Chiampo.
