Paese among villas, waterways and festivals

Paese among villas, waterways and festivals

Paese combines cultural and historical heritage, a landscape shaped by ditches and canals, and several events planned for 2026. The geographical perspective extends from Paese itself to the surrounding area and the wider regional area.

Villas and historical heritage

Casa Quaglia is a Gothic villa building dating from the 15th century and is considered one of the oldest examples of villa architecture in the Treviso area. In comparison, Casa Quaglia dates further back, to the 15th century, than Villa La Quiete, built in 1778, and Villa Panizza, built in 1810. Villa Panizza was built in 1810 by the Malanotte family and expanded around 1870. The restored Villa Panizza houses the Paese municipal library.

Villa La Quiete was built in 1778 by Marquis Giuseppe De Canonicis. Around the middle of the 19th century, it became one of the most important centers of the Venetian resistance against the Austrians; Teresa De Perissinotto, Daniele Manin's wife, lived there in exile from 1848 to 1849. The villa's political history therefore extends beyond its construction period. The Oratorio di Villa is integrated into the garden of Villa La Quiete, a chapel with a 16th-century fresco depicting the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child.

The Chiesa di San Lorenzo in Padernello was built in the early years of the 18th century on the foundations of the first religious building and consecrated in 1712 by Bishop Morosini. The area around Paese also includes the Palazzo dei Trecento as a palace, the Musei Civici di Treviso and Chiave di volta snc as museums, and La Bellissima Treviso as a historical site.

Canals, regional landscape and excursions

There are numerous ditches and canals in the Paese area. They are fed by artificial canals diverted from the Piave, especially the Canale della Vittoria di Ponente.

Colesel Val dell'Acqua and Monte Moncader are mountains in the wider regional area around Paese. Parco Manin is a park there, while Carbonera is an island there. For those interested in culture, the waterways in Paese itself are a focal point alongside historic buildings and regional mountains, the park and the island.

Events in 2026

“Paese in bicicletta” is planned as an ecological bicycle tour on the roads within the municipality of Paese. The bicycle tour is therefore thematically connected with the surroundings of Paese, which are shaped by ditches and canals.

“Biblioteca in festa” is scheduled to take place in Parco di Villa Panizza, with entertainment, games and workshops. The venue in Parco di Villa Panizza also links the festival to a historic building that houses the Paese municipal library.

On November 8, 2026, “Delizie d'autunno 2026 – Festa di San Martino” is planned in Paese, featuring a market event, food and refreshments, and public entertainment.
