Monte Castelon contains evidence of human settlement dating from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages. The Tempio di Minerva comprises three historical layers: an Imperial-era temple, a late Republican temple and an Iron Age votive fire site.

The Covoli di Marano – Coalo del Diaolo and Buso Streto – were used in prehistoric times as places of refuge and burial. A path through meadows and woods leads to the Covoli di Marano. Prior reservation with the municipal office of Marano di Valpolicella is required for visits inside.

Other historic points of interest include Santa Maria di Minerbe, also known as della Valverde, which dates back to the 12th century. The present structure is dated to 1682. Villa Guantieri in the village of Fasanara is a 15th-century villa with a portico, loggia and tower.

Excursions in the Surrounding Area

The area around Marano di Valpolicella also includes Falesia Mitria, a ruin, Castle Saint Pietro, a castle, and the Teatro romano di Verona, an ancient site.
