Valdagno between Industrial History, Nature Trails and Maresina
Valdagno combines its historic center with Villa Valle, the Museo Civico Dal Lago, the Museo delle Macchine Tessili, nature trails and Maresina. Valdagno’s historic center is considered one of the best-preserved smaller town centers in the Veneto.
Townscape and Cultural Heritage
Villa Valle was built at the end of the 16th century based on a design attributed to Girolamo Frigimelica Roberti. In the case of Villa Valle, a distinction must be made between the date of its construction and the attribution of the design. The Galleria dei Nani offers a different historical setting: it is located in the former stables of Palazzo Festari and is used for temporary exhibitions.
Museums of Natural History and Textile Heritage
The Museo Civico Dal Lago documents the long-standing presence of humans in the upper Agno Valley from the Neolithic period to the Middle Ages. The museum houses mineralogical, botanical and zoological collections. It is open on Saturdays from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; visits on other days are possible by prior reservation.
The Museo delle Macchine Tessili is located in part of the textile laboratories of IIS Marzotto-Luzzatti in Valdagno’s Città Sociale. It offers a virtual tour and an audio guide. Visits are possible by registering at museo@comune.valdagno.vi.it. Piazza Cavour in the Città Sociale is also the endpoint of the Ciclabile Agno-Guà .
Trails Along the Water and Through the Valleys
Within the municipality of Valdagno, the Ciclabile Agno-GuĂ runs from Ponte dei Nori along the stream to Piazza Cavour in the CittĂ Sociale. Covering approximately 10 km, the Itinerario Energia provides an opportunity to discover 14 hydroelectric power stations, aqueducts, numerous canals and reservoirs, tunnels between the valleys, and viaducts.
There are six nature trails in the Valdagno area, for which maps and guides have been created. The Sentiero Braggion is an approximately 7 km circular route through the Valle del Boia. As a circular route, the Sentiero Braggion differs from the Ciclabile running between Ponte dei Nori and Piazza Cavour.
Parco La Favorita
Parco La Favorita was designed in the 1930s as part of the Città Sociale (Città dell’Armonia). Today, the park in Valdagno is a landscape complex covering approximately five hectares, with extensive tree cover and architectural elements. In the case of Parco La Favorita, the architectural elements form part of a landscape complex designed as part of the Città Sociale.
Local Flavors: Maresina and Fritola
Maresina (Erba madre) has been a product with a municipal designation in Valdagno since 2012. The traditional Fritola, a dough made from flour, cooked rice and water, is particularly associated with Maresina in Valdagno.
