Palladian Architecture and Churches
Torri di Quartesolo is an interesting destination if you would like to combine Italian architectural history, walks by the water and local festival traditions in one trip. A notable example is the Ponte sul Tesina.
The Ponte sul Tesina is very likely based on a Palladian idea from 1569. It features elegant tabernacles attached to the piers, inspired by the Ponte di Augusto in Rimini. It is also the only surviving masonry bridge designed by Palladio. This structure brings together the history of its design, Roman references and surviving historic fabric.
The churches also offer different historical perspectives. The historic church of Santi Gervasio e Protasio was destroyed by bombing in 1945. The original foundation of the church in Lerino dedicated to Saint Martin dates back to the 13th century.
Walks, Nature and Cycling
Walks are possible along the river embankments of the Tesina in Torri di Quartesolo. A special natural attraction is the Ginkgo biloba at Via Aldo Moro 1: it is visible from the road, approximately 26 metres tall and has a crown about 7 metres wide.
For cyclists, the Piar is the main attraction as an integrated nature-themed cycle route. It was created jointly by the municipalities of Camisano Vicentino, Gazzo, Grisignano di Zocco, Grumolo delle Abbadesse, Quinto Vicentino and Torri di Quartesolo. The name of the cycle route therefore combines a focus on natural history with cooperation between several municipalities.
Villas, Museum, Gardens and Parks
The Villa Tacchi di Quinto palace and the Villa Gazzotti Grimani palace are located in the vicinity of Torri di Quartesolo. The Museo del Risorgimento is also located in the surrounding area as a museum; the Palazzo Civena Trissino is there as well.
Other destinations in the surrounding area include the Giardino della Vittoria garden, the Giardino Salvi garden, the Parco giochi di via Turra park and the Campo Marzo park. Villa Da Porto Slaviero is a Venetian villa from 1570 in the Palladian style, set in the countryside between Vicenza and Padua.
Local Festivals
A celebration of the Sagra del Rosario took place in Torri di Quartesolo in 1763. The Festa dell'Arna is a recurring festival in Torri di Quartesolo featuring dishes made with “Arna”. For your trip planning, this provides another highlight alongside architecture, churches, walking routes and cycling.
Choose Accommodation Based on Your Travel Interests
When choosing a hotel for your trip to Torri di Quartesolo, your personal interests may be decisive: cultural history with the Ponte sul Tesina and the churches, walks along the Tesina, cycling on the Piar or festivals featuring dishes made with “Arna”.
