Discover Zanè: Cuisine, Culture and Landscape

Zanè combines the culinary tradition of Alto Vicentino with historic buildings in Zanè and the surrounding area, museums, mountains, events, as well as walking routes and cycling connections. Bigoli co’ l’arna with duck ragù is a typical dish of Alto Vicentino, particularly of the area around Thiene and Zanè, and is now found throughout the province. In Zanè, this dish is also associated with the Sagra dei Bigoli co’ l’arna.

The Bigoli co’ l’arna dish and the festivals of Zanè

The first Sagra dei Bigoli co’ l’arna in Zanè took place in October 1972. More than five decades lie between this first Sagra and the scheduled date in March 2025. For the Sagra di San Giuseppe, an all-day event was scheduled for 23 March 2025 in the streets of the historic centre. The planned programme included a market, various entertainment options, as well as food and drink stalls. An amusement area operated by travelling fairground entertainers was also planned at Piazzale Pubblici Spettacoli. During the Festa delle Rose, the event takes place in the amphitheatre behind the church in Zanè. A food stall and an area for wine and beer tasting were planned for this festival. The dish and the Sagra dei Bigoli bear the same name, while the Sagra di San Giuseppe is a different festival with its own programme.

Palace, castle and museums in the surrounding area

For those interested in culture, Zanè itself is home to Villa Panozzo, which dates from the first half of the 18th century. In the surrounding area of Zanè are Palazzo Porto Colleoni Thiene, a palace, and Castello di Thiene, a castle. The Giuseppe Denti and Padiglione Fieristico museums are also located nearby. Palazzo Porto Colleoni Thiene and Castello di Thiene thus represent two different historic building types.

Mountains and a viewpoint in the wider region

For those interested in landscapes, Monte Summano, Monte Raga and Monte Alberelli are mountains in the area around Zanè. Punto panoramico "Castello" is a viewpoint in the wider regional surroundings of Zanè. The three mountains and the viewpoint represent different landscape connections around Zanè.

Route to the mill ruins and cycling connection

A path leads from Via Santa Rosa in a southwesterly direction to the ruins of an old mill complex. It was powered by the water of a Roggia, which dates back to the 13th century. The connection between the path, the mill ruins and the Roggia links a specific landscape feature with a historic detail. The cycle path between Zanè-Campagne and località Garziere connects the existing cycle paths in Zanè and Santorso.
