A closer look at Condofuri Marina leads to Spiaggia di Condofuri Marina and, at the same time, into the municipal area with its Grecanic connections. Coast, access to the hinterland and local culture create different sides of the destination that you can combine according to your travel interests.

Beach and coastal landscape

Spiaggia di Condofuri Marina is characterized by light sand and, especially along the shore, pebbles. The seabed slopes gradually towards the open sea. At the mouth of the Fiumara Amendolea, the beach divides into two sections: to the east, it continues into Spiaggia di Bova Marina, and to the west, into Spiaggia di San Lorenzo Marina. In the area of Condofuri Marina, the coastal strip between the deltas of the Torrente Agrifa and the Fiumara Amendolea opens into a plain and extends inland as far as the town centre of San Carlo.

Location and orientation

The old SS 106 runs parallel to the coast through the entire town centre of Condofuri Marina. A road running almost at a right angle to the coast connects the SS 106 at the Rossetti turn-off with San Carlo, Passomasseria, Grotte and the town centre of Condofuri. The Metaponto–Reggio Calabria railway line also runs parallel to the coast within the municipal area.

Grecanic traces in the surrounding area

In nearby Amendolea, a Norman castle preserves its battlemented walls. The Byzantine churches of the Annunziata, Santa Caterina and San Sebastiano are also located there.

In nearby Gallicianò, the Greek language and traditions associated with ancient Greek culture are still maintained. In the municipal area of Condofuri, the Grecanic tarantella is one of the traditional dances; its roots date back to antiquity. In the surrounding area, you will therefore encounter both living linguistic and traditional elements and a dance with a long historical depth.

Hike to Grecia

The hike from Gallicianò to Grecia is rated difficulty T, has an elevation difference of about 200 metres and takes two hours. For your planning, this provides a clearly indicated difficulty level, an approximate elevation difference and a specific duration.

Bergamot and Lestopitta

In the municipal area of Condofuri, bergamot is one of the defining elements of Grecanic identity. The Sagra della Lestopitta is dedicated to lestopitta, a speciality closely connected with the culture and history of Grecanic communities.

Climate for travel planning

The municipal area of Condofuri and its hinterland have a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and dry summers. This seasonal character is one of the basic conditions for planning your trip.
