San Leucio del Sannio: Hill Town Between Valleys and History

San Leucio del Sannio lies on a green hill between the valley of the Sabato River and the valley of the Serretelle stream. Its hillside location gives the town a clear geographical setting.

Palaces, Border and Cavuoti

The Palazzo Zamparelli stands in the town and was built in San Leucio del Sannio in 1761. The local Pro Loco organizes guided tours of the Palazzo Zamparelli. An approximately 5 km hiking traverse leads from Contrada Merici via Lago di Panassutto, A Ficucella, Abateandrea and the Frantoio oleario Zollo to San Leucio del Sannio. The approximately 5 km can be included in the day’s itinerary as an independent hiking section alongside a visit to the town.

Olive Groves and the Annual Festival

The Evo Experience includes a guided walk through the olive groves of Olearia Zollo. It takes place on the Zollo family estate in San Leucio del Sannio. The olive groves add a distinct landscape aspect to the guided walk of the Evo Experience.

The annual festival in honor of Saint Leucio attracts numerous worshippers and visitors. As a recurring religious occasion, it is part of the town’s yearly cycle.
