Ceraso combines a historically shaped townscape with the landscape of the Palistro. In the town, historic buildings and paths along the river meet forests and regional olive cultivation.
Historic Townscape
The Palazzo Di Lorenzo is an imposing 19th-century building in Ceraso; its original flooring has been preserved in the ground-floor rooms. In the oldest district of Ceraso, the Chiesa di San Nicola di Bari was built in 1790. The urban structure of the old town is largely defined by the Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Nicola. The village developed around the Via del Sale, an important connecting route between the Veline paths and the Ionian coast. Palazzo Iannicelli dates from the 19th century and forms the end of Ceraso's main square in the direction of the church district. The historic heritage also includes Lancillotti–Ebner, one of Ceraso's significant historic palaces, dating from the 15th century. The palaces therefore differ in their chronological classification: Palazzo Di Lorenzo and Palazzo Iannicelli date from the 19th century. On a tour through the town centre, these periods of construction can be compared directly.
Palaces, Churches and San Biase
In San Biase, the ancient watermill stands on the Palistro River and is a noteworthy cultural monument. The Chiesa di San Biagio preserves historically significant frescoes there, which were discovered beside the altar in 1998. The frescoes probably date from the 14th century and display an Eastern artistic influence.
Landscape along the Palistro
Ceraso is located in the Parco del Cilento e Vallo di Diano area at an elevation of around 300 m. The area is partly mountainous and hilly and features Mediterranean maquis as well as numerous alder, beech and chestnut forests. The Palistro River crosses the Ceraso area. Paths for excursions and outdoor sports have been created along the Palistro.
Paths, Forests and Leisure
The La Passeggiata di Parmenide trail runs through Ceraso, Massascusa and San Biase, following the Palistro River. In Ceraso, La Passeggiata di Parmenide includes the town garden on the Palistro, named after Pietro Ebner, with seating, small waterfalls and paths through lush vegetation. The Festa del Fiume has been held for 40 years in a designated area on the banks of the Palistro in the centre of Ceraso. Bosco Bruca is a wooded area with chestnut, alder and walnut trees, suitable for walks and excursions. Lago Fabbrica is an artificial lake created to irrigate the Piana di Velia and is also used for sport fishing.

Ceraso is known for its numerous, productive centuries-old olive groves and a typical regional oil. The town can be reached by car, train or bus.
