Ancient Classe and its museums
The Antico Porto di Classe also takes you into the history of the place. It corresponds to the port and trading area of the ancient city of Classe. At the Antico Porto di Classe, five perspective panels display reconstructions of former buildings that blend into today’s landscape.
The Classis Ravenna Museum - Museo della Città e del Territorio is located in the immediate vicinity of Classe. The ancient site Zona archeologica della Basilica di San Severo is also nearby. The Planetario di Ravenna museum, the Mar - Museo D'Arte della Città di Ravenna museum and the Safari Ravenna zoo are also located around Classe. This allows you to shape your days around different interests: from ancient history and the city’s territory to art and a visit to the zoo.
Circular route through oaks and umbrella pines
For outdoor activity, the Le Querce di Dante circular route is a good option. It begins at Parco I Maggio, is approximately 4 km long and can be walked or cycled. Its approximate length makes the route a manageable way to actively get to know the surrounding area, while its circular nature includes a return to the starting point. Depending on your chosen means of transport, you can experience the same landscape at a different pace.
The Le Querce di Dante route passes through a large stand of oak trees surrounded by tall umbrella pines. This combination of oaks and characteristic pine trees shapes the landscape impression along the route.
Reach the Pineta di Classe by bicycle
The Pineta di Classe can be reached from Ravenna by bicycle via the path behind the Basilica di Sant’Apollinare in Classe. South of the Basilica di Sant’Apollinare, it is an impressive, natural and wild environment with timeless fauna.
