San Giorgio di Nogaro: Churches, the Corno and Marina

San Giorgio di Nogaro reveals its distinctive character through a combination of religious heritage, waterside paths and a maritime setting. Culture between churches and procession

The Chiesa della Madonna was completed in 1798 after a construction period of around thirty years. The Chiesa della Madonna Addolorata preserves paintings from Venice. The Feast of the Addolorata includes an annual solemn procession through the town centre of San Giorgio di Nogaro. During the procession, the statue of the Madonna is carried; it is richly decorated with gold from donations made over the past two centuries. Paths along the Corno

The “10 thousand steps to health” route begins in Villa Dora Park, near the public car park on Via Aquileia and the town of San Giorgio di Nogaro, and is approximately 3.5 km long. It initially runs along the Corno River in the area where the river receives the waters of its tributary, the Corgnolizza; it then crosses a wooden footbridge. The route thus changes from the riverbank to a crossing over the water.

Canoa San Giorgio regularly organises tourist and recreational group excursions on the Corno River, particularly during the summer months. The mouth of the Corno River offers opportunities for walks and bike rides through river and landscape areas.
