Churches, Oratories and Mosaics

The Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Bernardo is a late Baroque building dating from the early years of the 18th century, created through the renovation and expansion of an older oratory. Access to the Oratorio Sant'Anna is not the same for everyone: the entrance has a step; people with disabilities can enter the church only when accompanied. The mosaics present different forms of remembrance and collaboration. A mosaic by Walter Ferrarini commemorating Danilo Cavalli was inaugurated in March 2014. The large mosaic in Arizzano was created by the artist Walter Ferrarini with the participation of all local associations and the municipal administration. When viewing it, both personal remembrance and community involvement therefore take centre stage.

Festivals and Local Traditions

Arizzano's patron saint's festival is dedicated to San Bernardo and takes place on 20 August. The Festa del Pane is associated with the first Sunday in May and offers another way to access the local traditions.

The Festa del Pane commemorates the old custom of the men of Arizzano giving fresh bread to the municipalities of Premeno and Bée in return for work on the slopes of Monte S. Salvatore. The festival connection links Premeno and Bée with the slopes of Monte S. About 40 years ago, the Pro Loco of Arizzano organised a chestnut festival for the first time in order to commemorate and pass on the town's traditional connection with chestnuts.

Cycling Route with Its Own Starting Point

The ÆQUILIBRIUM route is a 15.5 km circular route for e-bikes and mountain bikes, starting in Cambiasca. The combination of length, circular route and bicycle types makes it a different travel component from church visits or festival dates. If you would like to combine culture and cycling, you should include the starting point of Cambiasca in your personal planning.
