Nervi between the coast, gardens and culture
Nervi reveals its character through the connection between the coast, gardens and culture. The Passeggiata Anita Garibaldi stretches for around 2 km from the harbour of Nervi to the ancient landing place of Capolungo.
The Parchi di Nervi complement the coastal path with typical Mediterranean flora as well as exotic and tropical plants. Nervi’s rose garden was created in 1981 on the initiative of Luigi Viacava. Together, the parks give the area a green focus that combines well with a stay by the sea and cultural sightseeing.
Villa Saluzzo Serra houses the GAM, the Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Genova. The villa dates from the 16th century, is an aristocratic residence in the Parchi di Nervi and offers views of the sea. In front of the museum is a romantic grove with a stream and pond. Art, historic architecture and a small landscape scene stand side by side here.
The Raccolte Frugone are housed in Villa Grimaldi Fassio and comprise collections that Lazzaro and Luigi Frugone donated to the city of Genoa in 1935 and 1953, respectively. They include canvases, marble sculptures and bronzes from the Belle Époque between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A visit therefore offers another cultural way to experience Nervi.
The Museo Giannettino Luxoro houses valuable night clocks from the late 17th century, furniture and furnishings from the 18th century, as well as nativity figurines. Villa Luxoro was designed as a house museum from the outset and built in 1903 according to a design by Pietro Luxoro in the Capolungo area of the Parchi di Nervi.
Genova Nervi railway station is served by direct trains to and from Sestri Levante and La Spezia, as well as regional trains between Genova Voltri and Genova Nervi. AMT bus routes 15, 17 and 517 connect the centre of Genoa with the Nervi area. Route 517 continues to Capolungo.
If you would like to complement your stay with an activity on the water, SAL in Genova Nervi offers kayak and SUP-board rentals. Together with the promenade, parks and museums, this creates a local setting in which you can balance culture, nature, exercise and the sea according to your own travel pace.
When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore set your personal focus: are you most interested in the approximately 2 km-long coastal path, gardens and villas, collections, or kayaking and SUP? This keeps your choice of location closely aligned with Nervi’s specific features.
