The Santuario della Madonna delle Lagrime

The focus at the Santuario della Madonna delle Lagrime is sacred architecture. The interior is designed in the Lombard Neo-Gothic style and has three naves. The central chapel is also historically well documented: it was approved in 1873 and blessed on March 15, 1874. In Arcene, April 5 is the anniversary of the miracle of 1864 associated with the Santuario. The Municipio and Medieval Tower

A distinct architectural feature is associated with the Municipio di Arcene. The Municipio is attached to a square, four-story tower dating from the late 14th century. The tower’s construction is particularly striking: its masonry consists of pebbles arranged in a herringbone pattern, complemented by courses of brick.

Archaeological Past

Traces of prehistoric, Celtic, Roman and Lombard settlements have been found in the area of Arcene. These discoveries extend the historical context beyond the surviving buildings. During the Roman period, the ancient “castrum de Arcene” stood at the intersection of the Milan–Aquileia and Laude Pompeia–Rhaetia roads. The town thus also represents a past in which settlement history and long-distance road connections were intertwined.
