The Portec dei Sanc is also known as Portico dei Santi and is a characteristic covered passageway from the 15th century in Ornica's historic center. The parish church of Sant'Ambrogio houses a 15th-century polyptych attributed to the workshop of Gian Battista Cima da Conegliano. The sacristy of the same church contains a series of frescoes from 1485 by Angelo Baschenis of Averara. This sacred-art heritage is complemented by the Santuario Madonna del Frassino, a late Baroque, single-nave religious building.

Trails to the Pass, Lake, and Mountain Landscape

For your mountain planning, Sentiero 107 follows a clear route: it begins near a stone bridge at the entrance to Ornica and reaches Passo di Salmurano at an elevation of 2,017 meters. Lago Piazzotti can be reached from Ornica via Sentiero 107; the alpine lake lies at an elevation of 2,222 meters. The trail therefore leads from Ornica to a pass and a high-altitude lake. For visitors interested in culture, orientation begins in the historic center, while the trails guide the view toward the alpine surroundings.

The trail leading from Ornica through the Valle d'Inferno via Sentiero 106 offers frequent sightings of ibex and marmots. In Val Pianella, the landscape forms a moraine amphitheater; above it, the bastions of Pizzo di Giacomo rise above the pastures. A rock face lies along Sentiero 105C, shortly before the characteristic dolomitic turret of Pizzarèla. The turret offers a beautiful view of Ornica. These highlights range from wildlife sightings to distinctive landforms and a clear view of the village.

Blueberries and Insights into Rural Life

Seven agricultural businesses in Ornica grow blueberries; the cultivation areas are located mainly in the Valle Inferno and Val Salmurano. For on-site orientation, the Ecomuseo lists trekking and e-bike routes that begin in the historic center. Construction work began at Rifugio Benigni on June 8, 2026; access is therefore partially restricted, and temporary detour signage has been put in place.
