Borgo San Giacomo Among Castles, Churches and Canals

Historic sites with different geographical connections lie around Borgo San Giacomo. Castello di Padernello and medieval architectural history

Castello di Padernello is a medieval castle in the Province of Brescia. It is located in the small village of Padernello near Borgo San Giacomo. It was built by the Martinengo family at the end of the 14th century. A moat with a functioning drawbridge surrounds the castle; four corner towers served for its defence. Padernello should therefore be considered a separate village alongside Borgo San Giacomo. Churches and religious heritage

The Church of San Rocco is also known as Madonna del Rosario. It was built in 1520 following a vow made by the local population during the plague epidemic of 1515 to 1516. Its history is therefore linked to a specific vow made by the population and to a precisely defined period.
