The museum also displays finds from the pile-dwelling settlement of Lavagnone. The cathedral of Desenzano del Garda, the Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena, also tells a clearly dated architectural history. It was built between 1586 and 1611 over the remains of the old parish church, based on a design by the architect Giulio Todeschini. Its three-aisled basilica-style interior is considered one of the finest examples of the Late Renaissance in the province of Brescia. The cathedral contains works by Andrea Celesti, including a large "Resurrection" and a cycle of paintings dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene.

Harbor, Darsena and Paths by the Lake

At the Porto Vecchio, documented history dates back to 1274. During the Republic of Venice, the old harbor was expanded to supply the flourishing grain market. The arcades of Palazzo Todeschini overlook the old Darsena of Desenzano del Garda. In this way, the harbor, Darsena and palace complement the historical perspective by the water.

The Parco Idroscalo is ideal for paths by the lake. It offers direct pedestrian access to Lake Garda and has unpaved paths, benches, tables and LED lighting. Planting with centuries-old standard trees has also been preserved.
