Cerveno combines sacred art, rural heritage and the mountain world of Concarena to create a destination with several clearly distinct facets. The Santuario della Via Crucis stands next to the parish church of Cerveno. Inside is an 18th-century wooden Way of the Cross. The complex comprises 14 stations with a total of 198 life-sized wooden and plaster figures by Beniamino Simoni. It is precisely the combination of the sacred subject, the historical period in which it was created and the large number of figures that defines the cultural significance of this place.

Cerveno's religious tradition also includes the Santa Crus (Santa Croce), a sacred depiction of the Passion of Christ that takes place in Cerveno every ten years in May. The parish, together with the municipality, organizes guided tours of the Via Crucis for groups and individual visitors. Casa Museo di Cerveno

The Casa Museo di Cerveno preserves the original function of a rural dwelling. Its surviving architectural features include vaulted rooms, the use of limestone and the original layout of the rooms. The rooms also preserve artifacts, salvaged furnishings and agricultural tools. These include objects from viticulture and winemaking, as well as from livestock farming, alpine pasture management and crafts.

The Casa Museo therefore conveys not only individual objects, but also various areas of work and life associated with rural Cerveno. Advance booking is required for group visits. The organized tour of the Via Crucis, on the other hand, is available to groups and individual visitors and complements the historical impressions with the site's sacred focus.

Monte Arsio and Concarena

Monte Arsio offers easy walks as well as more demanding hikes to the 2,338-meter summit of Monte Vaccio in the Concarena massif. This range makes the mountain area appealing to hikers with different preferences: you can focus on a short route or choose a considerably more challenging tour into the high-altitude terrain. The specific landscape connection always remains tied to Monte Arsio, Monte Vaccio and the Concarena massif.

The Concarena mountain rises above Cerveno and is associated with a special light phenomenon. At sunset on the days of the equinoxes, the sun appears to shine through a deep cleft in the summit. This interplay between the mountain's shape and the seasonally determined position of the sun gives the landscape its own point of interest for observation, without requiring any further local attribution.

Historic center and ancient paths

Cerveno's historic center is reached via a narrow cobblestone lane lined with stone walls. The approach is therefore itself characterized by a distinctive architectural detail. The route Tra vigne e vini leads through Cerveno and follows the ancient Via Valeriana there along the foot of the Concarena slopes. Its name and route link the local winemaking tradition with a historic passageway and the mountain landscape around the village.
