Pregasio is a historic village at 478 meters above sea level, overlooking Lake Garda. At the same time, Pregasio lies along the road from Pieve to Sermerio.

San Marco and the History of the Village

A central landmark is the Church of San Marco in Pregasio. It was built in 1564 during Venetian rule. The main altar features an altarpiece depicting Saint Mark bending over the Gospel. For those interested in culture, San Marco brings together the Venetian building period and a specific motif on the main altar.

The Feast of San Marco and Local Foods

The historic Feast of San Marco is also part of the village’s traditional history. It was celebrated on April 25. At the festival, capretto and Spongadì were eaten, the traditional cake of Tremosine sul Garda. The festival tradition connects the April date with the two traditional foods.

Routes from Pregasio to Campione

The Pieve–Campione Trail is 7 km long; the round trip takes approximately 4 hours. For day planning, it is important to note that the approximate duration applies to both directions. The estimated time should therefore be understood as covering the entire round trip, not just the section to Campione. The steep section beside San Marco forms a separate route connection to Campione; the distance of seven kilometers and the approximate four-hour duration refer to the Pieve–Campione Trail. Time for breaks or a longer stay along the way should be planned separately from the walking time when organizing the trail day.

A steep path also leads directly to Campione from the road beside the Church of San Marco. The route from Pregasio to Campione passes through the village of Lò, where an old quarry is located. When planning the route, the steep section beside San Marco and the route through Lò can be considered separately. The old quarry also anchors the route at a specific location in Lò.

Further Traces Around Pregasio

The Limonaia Pra de la Fam Museum and Castello Scaligero are located in the area around Pregasio. The museum and castle extend beyond the village into its immediate surroundings. Another historical reference is a military cableway that ran directly from the lake to Pregasio during the First World War and was used to transport goods. The cableway is therefore part of the history of the First World War, while San Marco points to the earlier period of Venetian rule.
