Collio offers several distinct ways to experience a trip: hiking, winter sports, underground exploration and sacred sights. Highlights include the CAI trail to Corna Blacca, the Maniva ski area, the Sant’Aloisio Mine and churches connected either with the Via del Sacro e dell’Arte or with the year 1785.

Hiking via Pezzeda to Corna Blacca

CAI Trail No. 349–3V leads from Collio via Pezzeda to Corna Blacca. Corna Blacca is a peak in the vicinity of Collio. The trail is suitable as a separate planning element if you would like to include a hike with a clearly defined route and mountain destination. Pezzeda lies along the route between Collio and the summit destination.

Winter at Maniva

The Maniva ski area has more than 40 km of ski runs and 9 lifts. It is accessed via Passo del Maniva, which can be reached from Valle Trompia via Collio–San Colombano. When planning a winter day, you can therefore take into account both the range of slopes and lifts and access via Passo del Maniva. More than 40 km of ski runs and 9 lifts give the winter sports area a clear sense of scale.

Underground and above-ground mining

The guided underground tour “Trekking Minerario” at the Sant’Aloisio Mine lasts approximately one and a half hours. This duration represents a clearly defined block of time within the underground visit. The speleoclimatic centre of the Sant’Aloisio Mine extends over 1,400 m and includes a ride of approximately 400 m on a small train through the tunnels. The small-train ride remains within the tunnels. Above ground, the Adventure Park allows visitors to explore the facilities of the former mine via Tibetan bridges, ropes, walkways and ladders. The underground and above-ground areas therefore represent two separate sections of the former mining site.

Sacred Sites and Regional Culture

The Chiesa di San Rocco is a stop on the Via del Sacro e dell’Arte of the Ecomuseo di Valle Trompia – La Montagna e l’Industria. The parish church of SS. Nazario e Celso was completed in 1785. San Rocco thus forms part of the Ecomuseo’s thematic context, while SS. Nazario e Celso has a specific historical connection to the year 1785.

Mountain Destinations in the Area

Those wishing to compare other mountain destinations will find Monte Dasdana, a mountain in the vicinity of Collio. Monte Crestoso and Dosso Alto are mountains in the area around Collio. Alongside Corna Blacca, this provides further mountain destinations for planning excursions in the landscape around Collio.
