Picedo among vineyards and local history

Vineyards and Historic Center

Picedo is characterized by a high concentration of vineyards and olive groves. The historic center of Picedo was grouped around Piazzetta Olivieri and included the Chiesa di Sant’Antonio Abate.

Church and Traces of the Past

The Chiesa di Sant’Antonio Abate is located on Piazza Olivieri. It was presumably built in the 15th century in the late Romanesque style. It contains 16th-century frescoes depicting the Madonna and Child as well as the Nativity with Saint Francis. For those interested in culture, the church and its frescoes are the main highlights. Next to the church stands a preserved building considered a typical example of a rustic 15th-century building. Picedo also features sporadic evidence from the Roman era.
