Local History and Landscape

Albavilla combines local history with destinations in the mountains and by the lake. La Foce is an ancient washhouse in the center of Albavilla. The elevated Church of Santa Maria di Loreto, formerly San Bartolomeo, contains frescoes depicting Saint Anthony of Padua, Our Lady of Loreto and Saint Bartholomew. It was first mentioned in 1298 under the dedication to Saint Bartholomew.

The Church of San Dionigi in Carcano was built around 1200. The account that it was constructed from the ruins of a castle is recorded in a 1566 visitation report. This provides a range of different historical references for a culture-oriented stay.

Albavilla is one of the municipalities on Lake Alserio. Monte Bolettone offers views of Lake Como, the Lecco mountains and Brianza. Lake, mountain and cultural experiences can therefore be considered as different focuses when planning your day.

Hiking at Alpe del Vicerè

The 903-metre-high Alpe del Vicerè can be reached from Albavilla via a road suitable for vehicles. It has leisure facilities and visitor parking and is an ideal starting point for many hikes along the Dorsale del Triangolo Lariano. If you prefer a hike with clearly defined details, the Giroingiro del Bollettone is a good option: the easy circular trail is 11 km long, takes three hours and starts and ends at Alpe del Vicerè in Albavilla.

The route to Buco del Piombo can also be approached from Albavilla. The drive follows Via dei Crotti towards Trattoria Alpina and Lo Zoccolo; from there, you continue on foot. Access to the Buco del Piombo cave is only possible with a guide. This combination of driving, walking and guided access is an important factor in planning your day.

Family Experience and Running Event

The Cornizzolo course at Jungle Raider Park Albavilla comprises seven sections and is intended for children aged three and over. Alongside the hiking trails, this provides an experience in the town specifically aimed at young children.

The Gruppo Bollettone A.S.D. from Albavilla organizes a non-competitive Giroingiro del Bollettone run every year around the last weekend of September. The event adds to the options for visitors who would like to combine Albavilla with a communal sporting activity.

Local Insights

The annual Festa dell'uva e dei Crotti offers tastings of local products and the opportunity to visit the mostly private crotti. The Parco di Villa Giamminola is home to centuries-old trees. When planning a stay in Albavilla, you can categorize these local insights, the churches, the mountain trails and the family-oriented activity as different areas of interest.

Further destinations: Pusiano, Casnate Con Bernate, Cima Di Porlezza, Sorico, Locate Varesino, Dascio, Lasnigo, Valmorea
